All broodmares trace their pedigrees back to the all time great working horses of the Australian Quarter Horse Industry, especially the cutting horse bloodlines thus achieving an excellent depth of Quarter Horse working bloodlines. These mares have good strong confirmation, cool temperament, and feature the people friendly attitude that is such a strong part of the Quarter Horse pysche. The height of our broodmares ranges from 14.2HH to 15.3HH. There are on average approximately 20 broodmares which are bred to the two current stallions depending on the seasons . Compact Quarter Horse Stud did not breed their mares for 2 seasons due to the drought, first crop of foals on the ground has been the 2009 season of which the weanlings are now for sale and there were 21 mares paddocked with Helios Xanthus Q63469 for the 2009/2010 breeding season.

All of the older broodmares have been tested for HERDA and have been tested as HERDA N/N, in other words they are free of HERDA. If both sire and dam are tested as HERDA N/N the resulting progeny will be HERDA N/N as this genetic disorder does not jump generations according to the AQHA and veterinarian advice from both here in Australia and also from the USA.
